Editorial Standards
Purpose of the catalogue
The AXEPU Public Domain Literature Library provides editorial context for public-domain children's adventure books. Our goal is to help readers discover and understand works that may be unfamiliar, by highlighting narrative techniques, themes, and historical settings. We do not claim to offer literary criticism or academic scholarship.
Scope and selection
The catalogue includes 90 books, all sourced from Project Gutenberg. Selection is based on the editor's interest in children's adventure stories from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with an emphasis on works that engage with war, revolution, or national identity. No systematic criteria were applied; the collection reflects personal curation.
Source attribution
Every book record identifies Project Gutenberg as the source of the digital text. We do not verify copyright status; readers should consult Project Gutenberg for legal information. Internal links point to the AXEPU domain, where the full text is hosted.
Bibliographic records
Each record includes title, author(s), illustrator(s), publisher, a set of Library of Congress subject keywords, and a target-reader note. The catalogue note is written by the editor based on excerpts; it does not constitute a full analysis. Dates are included only when present in the source metadata.
Category assignment
All works are grouped under one category: "Childrens Adventures." This assignment is an editorial decision intended to highlight common themes; it is not a definitive classification. Works that do not obviously fit the category are included to show the breadth of the collection.
Editorial reading context
Editorial notes are based on a reading of selected excerpts from each book. No claim is made to have read every word of every book. Observations are confined to the portions examined, and conclusions are tentative. The editor avoids speculative statements about plot, character, or author intention beyond what the excerpts support.
Edition facts and text measurements
We do not provide edition details or word counts. The texts are as published by Project Gutenberg, which typically provides the original publication date. Readers interested in textual history should consult the source.
Recommendations and related works
Category guides recommend three books each, chosen to represent the diversity of the category. Recommendations are based on the editor's assessment of thematic fit, narrative interest, and variety. No external reviews or ratings are used.
Corrections and reader reports
Readers may report errors or suggestions via the contact page. The editor reviews reports periodically and updates records as needed. We do not promise immediate corrections.
Public-domain limitations
All texts are believed to be in the public domain in the United States. Readers outside the U.S. should verify the copyright status in their jurisdiction. The catalogue does not provide legal advice.
Accessibility and readable presentation
HTML is structured with semantic tags and simple CSS classes. We avoid images, tables, and complex layouts to ensure compatibility with screen readers and text-only browsers. The editorial language aims to be clear and straightforward.
Independence and editorial responsibility
The editor, The Editorial Team Axepu, is solely responsible for the content. No external organization, sponsor, or review board oversees the catalogue. The editor has no formal qualifications in librarianship or literary studies.
What the catalogue does not claim
We do not claim peer review, university affiliation, or professional certification. We do not claim that every book was read in full. We do not use AI or automated tools to generate content. We do not include advertising or sponsored content.
Ongoing maintenance
The catalogue is updated periodically as new public-domain works become available or as errors are corrected. The editor reserves the right to revise category assignments and editorial notes without notice.
